Description
The music box is a portable idiophone that consists of a rotating cylinder studded with small pins, a flat comb of prongs, and a handle or turn-key. The melody is determined by the placement of the small pins. When the handle or key is turned the cylinder begins to rotate and it brushes against the pitched prongs which are displaced when they bump against the raised pins at certain times creating a melody.
